Vogelzang
Renewed residential care center in Leuven
Home Vogelzang vzw, with the help of ION, has undergone a major transformation in Leuven, where an aging residential care center has given way to a modern 89-room complex. Designed to meet all of the residents' contemporary needs, from comfort to sustainability, this project provides a new home for needy seniors and independent living seniors.
Tervuursesteenweg 290 - 3001 Heverlee
The renovated Vogelzang offers 89 spacious rooms, each with private bathrooms and electric blinds, providing a private and comfortable living experience.
In line with modern building principles, Vogelzang is equipped with solar panels, rainwater recovery systems and green roofs.
Communal living spaces and large terraces offer residents the opportunity to gather for social interactions or enjoy the outdoors and views of the green surroundings.
Innovative and forward-looking
The reconstruction of Vogelzang in Leuven represents a significant investment in the quality of life for the elderly. The complex was strategically designed to provide both privacy and a sense of community, giving each resident the space to enjoy his or her old age in his or her own way.

Living and caring together
Vogelzang is more than a residential facility; it is a place where care and community go hand in hand. With facilities designed to foster social interaction and a model of care that responds to the individual needs of each resident, Vogelzang provides a supportive and stimulating environment. The project symbolizes the future in which elder care is both personal and sustainable, proving that a caring community can have a positive impact on the quality of life of its residents.
Build to Suit
Commissioned by Home Vogelzang vzw, ION realized a customized residential care center in Leuven, replacing an outdated residential block. This project was a Build to Suit development, with residents temporarily housed in residential containers during the construction period to ensure continuity of care.
ION created this project through a project company that entered into a ground lease on the site, and signed a sublease agreement with the operator Home Vogelzang VZW. Upon completion of the center, ION transferred the rights to Cofinimmo, a long-term investor, ensuring the center's sustainability and future care.
