ION Develop Different

I. General

This is the Cookie Statement of the ‘ION Group’ (hereinafter ‘ION Group’ or ‘we’).

Your contact company within the ION Group is ION Holding BV, a limited liability company under Belgian law, with registered office at Vredestraat 53, 8790 Waregem and registered in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under number 0840.549.639.
The website www.ion.be and the associated project websites (hereinafter the ‘Websites’) use cookies and similar technologies. This Cookie Statement aims to inform you as a visitor about their use.

In addition to this Cookie Statement, the ION Group also makes available a Privacy Policy, of which this Cookie Statement forms an integral part and which you can consult here. For the collection and further processing of your personal data in general and your rights in this respect, please refer to this Privacy Policy. This Cookie Statement details the specific way in which we use cookies on the Website.

We would like to point out to you as a visitor that you do not have to accept all cookies. Accepting them is not a condition for visiting the Websites. If you reject them, however, certain functions of the Websites and additional services may not function optimally (see also Title V).

II. What are cookies?

Cookies are small information files stored by the Internet browser on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website or use a (mobile) application. They act as a kind of memory aid for a website. Cookies allow the Websites to easily track specific information about our visitors and their browsing behaviour.

Cookies can be set both by the Websites themselves (‘first-party cookies’) and by domain names belonging to third parties (‘third-party cookies’). Third-party cookies ensure that certain data resulting from your visit or use of the Websites are transmitted to the third-party vendor who placed the cookies.

Cookies are sometimes placed temporarily (‘session cookies’, which are deleted when you close the browser) and sometimes permanently (‘persistent’ cookies, which remain until they expire or until you delete them).

III. What do we use cookies for?

The ION Group distinguishes six types of cookies when offering the Websites. Below we clarify how these cookies ensure that we can offer you well-functioning and attractive Websites.

A. Strictly necessary cookies and functional cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are necessary for purely technical reasons to enable communication between your device and the Websites. These cookies do not record any specific data about the individual visitor, but they are necessary for the use of the Websites.

Functional cookies, in turn, ensure that the basic functionalities of the Websites work properly. These cookies are only placed after you, the visitor, have taken a certain action on the Websites (e.g. downloading brochures).

You can set your browser to block these cookies or to warn you about them, but some parts of the Websites will then not work. You can disable these cookies by changing your browser preferences (see title V). Either way, these cookies are only stored on your device for a very short period of time to perform the functions discussed above, so the impact on your privacy is minor.
B. Analytical cookies (non-essential cookies)

Analytical cookies enable us to learn more about how you as a visitor interact with and respond to the content of the Websites (E.g. to know the number of pages visited or the number of users who have viewed a particular page). This allows us to design the Websites even better. The information in question does not record specific data on the individual visitor, but is used to create and analyse web statistics on an overall level. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our site. These cookies are set on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see Title V).

C. (Social) sharing cookies (non-essential cookies)

We use social sharing cookies from LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and other similar social media sites to enable you to share content from our websites that interests you with other people on social networks. We may present targeted ads on these networks based on your interaction with our websites. These cookies are placed on our website via hyperlinks, social plug-ins or links to social media operators. When you use these share buttons, a third-party cookie is installed (see also item D).

Social plug-ins establish a connection to the servers of social network operators. With a subsequent click, you are sent to the respective social media page of the ION Group or one of its affiliates.

Your data is transmitted to the operator of the relevant social network. The ION Group enables data collection by setting up the social plug-in on its website, but has no influence on which data or the amount of data the social network collects using the social plug-in. The social networks receive information such as which of our websites you have currently and previously visited. Through the social plug-in, a cookie with a unique identifier is set each time the website in question is visited. This enables the social network to create a profile of your usage behaviour. Such a profile may be assigned to you in the event of subsequent initial registration with the social network, but the ION Group does not have access to this profile.

If you are already registered with a social network during your visit to our websites, the operator of that social network may assign the visit via the social plug-ins to your personal account. When using functions of the social plug-ins (E.g. ‘Like’ button, ‘Tweets’, leaving comments ...), the information on this use is transmitted directly from your browser to the respective social network and stored there. The same applies when you call up a website of a social media provider by clicking on the corresponding symbol button.

If you are not a member of a social network, the social networks may still receive and store your IP address and information about the browser and operating system you use via the social plug-ins.

These cookies are set on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (at a later date) (see Title V).

D. Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies (e.g. advertising or tracking cookies or similar technologies) collect information about your browsing behaviour to make advertising more relevant to you and your interests.

We use (mainly) third-party cookies from companies such as Meta, LinkedIn, Google, etc. to understand how users arrive at our websites and how they interact with us on the website. We also use these cookies to understand how our media campaigns work. We may also share first-party data with our third-party service providers who distribute our Website(s) and help us advertise. For example, we may share data with our API service providers. This information is used to evaluate and improve the content of our Website and our campaigns and ultimately to improve the user experience.

We use marketing cookies to deliver ads that are more relevant to you and your interests, (ii) limit the number of times you see an ad, (iii) help measure the effectiveness of an ad campaign, and (iv) understand user behaviour after seeing an ad.

These cookies are set on the basis of your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time (at a later date) (see Title V).

E. Third party cookies

Some cookies we use are from third party companies, such as [Google, Adobe, LinkedIn, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram , etc.] to provide us with web analytics and intelligence about our websites. These companies use programming codes to collect information about your interaction with our websites, such as the pages you visit, the links you click and how long you spend on our websites.

However, these cookies may also collect information about you for their own purposes. This Cookie Policy does not apply to the use of your information by third parties for their own purposes. Therefore, ION Group recommends that you check the cookie policies of these third parties.

Third-party cookies are placed on your browser based on your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (at a later date) (see Title V).

V. Managing cookies

A. Via the website

You have the choice to accept all cookies, reject all cookies or adjust your cookie settings via the cookie banner that appears on our website when you first visit the site. If you reject cookies or do not click on our cookie banner, only essential cookies will be placed on your browser. If you have given your consent to the setting of non-essential cookies, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent via the cookie tool on our website.

B. Via your browser
If you wish to block cookies, delete existing cookies or change your cookie settings, you can always do so via your browser settings. These settings can be found in the ‘options’ or ‘preferences’ menu of your internet browser. For example, the hyperlinks below provide further instructions on how to disable the use of cookies on certain browsers and/or how to delete cookies:

For more information on deleting and blocking cookies, please visit: All about cookies.

Although only prior, express, free, specific and informed consent from you is triggered, depending on your operating system, you may not be able to delete or block all cookies and you may not be able to block all non-cookie technologies and these browser settings blocking cookies may not affect such technologies. In these cases, consent can always be changed via the iON Privacy Preference Centre.

Remember, however, that if you do not accept certain types of cookies or if you disable cookies, certain parts of the website or some elements may not be accessible and/or may not be displayed as well. You may also be unable to use certain applications, and/or some parts of our website may take longer to work or may not function properly.

VI. Changes

We reserve the right to unilaterally amend this Cookie Statement at any time. Any amended version is published online and can be found on the Website. From its publication, the amended Cookie Statement will apply immediately. If we have hereby implemented new cookies on our Website that are not essential to enable communication between your device and the Website for purely technical reasons, we will ask for your consent again if required. The date on which this Cookie Statement was last updated can be found at the bottom of this page.

VI. Further questions?

If you should still have questions regarding the Websites or this Cookie Statement and do not find the answer to your questions here, you can always contact us by sending an e-mail to [email protected].
